Home Art Studio

Would you like to an art teacher to come to your home and teach your child? Home Art Studio can make that wish come true.

Art education enhances a child’s ability to problem solve, be creative, expand their imagination and improve their vision of the world. We recently tried Home Art Studio with my 5th grade homeschooler.  The curriculum comes with lesson plans, an instructional DVD and the supplies you need to complete each lesson.  I was pleasantly surprised when we received the package.  It was filled with art supplies.  My girls couldn’t wait to get started.

The 1st lesson was to create a value scale to use as a guide with other lessons. We used a piece of paper folded into 6 segments then shaded each block from the lightest light to the darkest dark using only a pencil.

The 2nd lesson we drew a realistic lighthouse.  The assignment was to think about where the light source was coming from then use the value scale to shade the drawing appropriately.  The instructor took us thru the process in a step by step format.

On the 3rd lesson, the instructor videos her trip to an aquarium then demonstrates how to make a clown fish.  Go here to see the lesson for free.   We took a piece of orange and white paper and stacked them. Then drew the fish as she instructed and cut it out.

Once it was cut out we took a black piece of paper and glued the fish parts into a pattern. Then added details.

The 4th lesson teaches diptych drawing.  A diptych is 2 canvases attached in the middle.  They are 2 separate images that flow together to form one large image.   The assignment was to fold a piece of paper in half and draw an underwater scene.  The scene needed to flow but when separated could stand alone as an individual drawing.

My daughters completed diptych.

We are thoroughly enjoying these lessons each week.   It’s a great way to learn art at home.  She offers curriculum from Kindergarten thru 5th grade.  Check out her site at:  http://www.officialhomeartstudio.com/

This is so amazing. I am far from good at drawing. I want one. My kiddos would love this so much. I'm going to go and check them out right now. Thanks for sharing. :)
