The device uses information provided by pediatricians and helps to assist with the process of making babies sleep. Recently, some parents reported the bassinet was vibrating – what does this mean?

Vibration in your mamaRoo is completely normal and safe, as it is one of the features. However, the newer models no longer contain this feature due to manufacturing issues during COVID-19.

Vibration With mamaRoo Sleep Bassinet

When parents come across the vibrations feature in the sleep bassinet, they may be concerned the vibrations are harmful to babies. Simply put, this is not the case. Vibrations are perfectly safe for the baby and end up being soothing and calming. The baby will respond in the same way they respond to gentle taps when being put to bed. 

Pair The Bassinet With the 4moms App

Pairing the sleep bassinet with the 4moms App provided by the manufacturer can give you more control over the settings. If you see an icon for sound when you switch on the device, use this method: 

  1. Switch on the bassinet, and keep an eye out for the sound icon.
  2. Download the 4moms App for your phone. 
  3. Create a new account on the 4moms App.
  4. If you already have an existing account, sign in instead. 
  5. Click on the image for the mamaRoo sleep bassinet. 
  6. Click on connect. 
  7. To pair the bassinet, hold down the sound icon for 3 seconds.
  8. The Bluetooth light will flash to indicate pairing is switched on.
  9. Complete pairing through the App on your phone. 

In the case that you see a vibration icon as well, you can press it down instead of the sound icon to connect the two. You can now control the vibration settings and decide whether you want to switch it on or not.

Look Out For Clicking Sounds

Because the mamRoo sleep bassinet utilizes a motor, there is bound to be some sound when it is switched on. However, if the sound is loud and disruptive, this may be cause for a second look at the device. If you hear sounds that can be called ‘whirring,’ there may be an issue at hand. 

One of the ways to combat this issue is to check the device itself. If the latch at the back of the device is not in place, it can cause these sounds. Always make sure that the latch is locked in place to avoid further issues.

If you continue to face issues with the mamaRoo sleep bassinet vibration mode, it may be time to contact customer support. You can do so by reaching out to the manufacturers at the 4moms website. You may qualify for a warranty in some cases if your products are registered. So make sure that your items are registered beforehand.

Has The Vibration Mode Been Removed?

The short answer is, yes, 4moms has now removed the vibration mode from all mamaRoo sleep bassinets. They cite the change in the sleep bassinets due to COVID-19 impacts on their workshops. According to 4moms, the vibration feature was causing delays and could no longer keep up with the demand for the sleep bassinet. 

For parents who were concerned about the safety of the vibration feature and the noise it causes, this is a piece of good news. The vibration mode has been removed entirely from all of the new models of the mamaRoo sleep bassinet by 4moms. This way, the company does not have to deal with unwanted noise complaints when parents use this device. 

Will The Vibration Mode Come Back?

According to 4moms, the company will not return the vibration mode any time soon. However, if you want the vibration function back, you can reach out to the team at 4moms with your feedback. The mode options have also been removed from the 4moms App to avoid confusion about its presence.

How Do I Use Vibration Mode Now?

As mentioned above, the 4moms App no longer works to include the vibration mode as a feature. This change is because newer devices do not contain vibration software and cannot offer that feature at all. As a parent whose child enjoys the vibration mode, this may not be what you are looking for, but if you already have a mamaRoo sleep bassinet with vibration software, you can still use it.

Instead of relying on the App, you can use the panel from the device to switch on vibration. When your mamaRoo sleep bassinet is switched on, you will be able to see the vibrate icon on the panel. You can switch on the vibration mode through this panel and continue to use it. However, you will no longer be able to use it directly from within the 4moms App. 


Over the last few years, there have been concerns that vibrating modes in a bassinet designed for babies may be harmful. According to 4moms, this is not the case. The company states that the mamaRoo baby sleep bassinet is safe for all children and follows the required guidelines. 

However, due to restrictions during COVID-19 and an inability to meet the demands of the bassinet within the timelines needed, the company has removed vibration mode. For parents who enjoy this feature, you can still access it from the panel of an older mamaRoo sleep bassinet. However, the vibration mode is no longer available on the 4moms App.
