My family loves making chex party mix during the holidays. As I was gathering my ingredients I wondered how I could make this healthier. I discovered organic Heritage Bites from Nature’s path. Here’s our original vs. healthier chex party mix recipes.
Original Chex Party Mix vs. Healthier
Original Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 c corn chex cereal
- 2 1/2 c rice chex cereal
- 2 c wheat chex cereal
- 2 c mixed nuts
- 1 c pretzels
- 6 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Healthier Ingredients:
- 7 c Organic Heritage Bites
- 2 c mixed nuts
- 1/2 c Raw sunflower seeds
- 1/2 c Goji berries (optional)
- 6 tbsp real butter
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
Directions: Heat oven to 250. In ungreased roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in air tight container.
