I love making memories with my children during the holidays. Rock Candy is fairly quick and easy to make. My kids like picking the flavors and colors. The recipe we made this year is Old Fashioned Rock Candy with a Twist.
- 2 c. white sugar
- 1 c. water
- 3/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1 drop food coloring
- 1/8 c. confectioners sugar
- Essential oils for flavoring
Directions: In a 2 quart saucepan, combine the sugar, water and syrup. Stir constantly and cook to the hard crack stage (300 degrees).
Sprinkle confectioners sugar over two 9 inch pans. Remove from heat, add food coloring and your choice of essential oil for flavoring. Stir to mix then pour into pans. As soon as the candy is cool enough to handle, cut it with scissors into 1 inch strips. Then snip the strips into pieces. Work fast. Toss with confectioners sugar. Enjoy your essential oil rock candy!
